Amadeo is very polite.
A closer look at the hair detailing. The curls are achieved by wrapping acrylic yarn around dowels of different widths and heating them the oven with water. His ear is stitched over after being stuffed to create more shape.
A progress pic of Amadeo's assembled torso. He is stuffed with off-brand polyfill. His featureless head is held on here with a long needle.
Amadeo's head is attached to his body by stringing heavy thread between this button and one hidden in his hair. His wings also attach here. The hole underneath leaves room for a stick or stand to help prop him up in more complicated positions.
Inside the joint there is a wooden bead allowing the knee to bend. Thread passed through one side of the thigh, then through the calf piece with the bead in it, out the other side, and back again a few times. His knees are stiff but flexible and hold their position loosely.
Amadeo's ankles are constructed in the same was as his knees but with no bead. This somehow made them both floppier and stiffer. But he's Amadeo so he does need ankles.
Amadeo's face shape is created both by pulling in by bulking out. the eyes and mouth pull in creating the cheeks smile and eye sockets. Like how the head attaches to the body, these eyes are strung to a button hidden in his hair and are under considerable amounts of tension. His nose is built using the opposite technique. I made it seperately and sewed it down.
The pins on Amadeo's half finished face are placeholders for his features. I took images of Armand from the show, scaled them to the size of my patern and marked off the position of ears/brow/nose/hairline/mouth/etc. I changed his hair line and jaw shape to give him a younger more baby-ish look.
Book canon rings situation is just some random beads I had. His "fingers" have one loop of wire in them and his thumb has another giving him limited hand positioning options. This is the most delicate part of the doll. In the palms of his hand, he has small magnets which allow him to hold any lightweight object also fitted with a magnet, without needing to bend his hands repeatedly out of shape. This is how he will hold his sword!
Ok, this one is Arun not Amamdeo, but look how cute he is riding this cursed horse marionette my buddy gave me!
